The centers offer preschool programs which run Monday to Friday 2 hours/day from September to May each year. The Early Learning Center is licensed and subsidized through the Government of Saskatchewan.
The centers are subsidized and licensed through the Government of Saskatchewan with child care spaces for up to 37(Vanscoy), 38 (Delisle) children, and 27 Asquith.
Fees- The Ministry of Education is now funding all licensed spaces for children ages 0-5. Fees in our center for children under age 6 are $10/day or $217.50/month.
All of the Educators at the centers are committed to continuing their own education through distance education as well as attending as many workshops and conferences as they are able. These opportunities give educators the most up to date knowledge and tools to provide the most effective learning opportunities and techniques for working with the children. These opportunities enable us to create nurturing, inviting and comfortable learning environments both indoors and outdoors. All full time and part time staff in the centers are certified by the Ministry of Education.
The Healthy Start program has been integrated into the centers and has provided information and tools to enhance our learning environments along with nutrition and physical activities. In 2014 - 2015 the Vanscoy & District Early Learning Center was chosen as a Host Site by the Ministry of Education. We are very proud to have been selected and to show off our center to other educators and early learning professionals. See our Host Site page for a video tour and more information.
In the Vanscoy center you will find 3 classrooms. The first is the Infant/Toddler Room also known as the Bumblebee Room. Here we accommodate children ages 6 weeks to approximately 3 years old. As the children grow they move to the next room, which is known as the Dragonfly Room. This room accommodates preschool children ages 3 -4 years. Around age 4-5 the children move from the Dragonfly Room to the Spider/Scorpion Room. This room is a dual purpose room for both preschoolers age 5-6 years and school age children age 5-12 years. In each of these rooms you will see enhanced learning environments with many natural materials for children to play, explore and learn. We are also very fortunate to have a large open room that we use as a rec room for large group activities such as parachute play, musical chairs plus many more various games and activities.
The Delisle Center also has 3 classrooms. The Infant/Toddler room is known as Chicks, accommodating ages 6weeks up to age 3. The Kit room is the next age group ages 3-4 years. The Cub room accommodates ages 5 and up, including before and afterschool care.
Programming in the centers are based on Play and Exploration which is a play-based program providing high quality, age appropriate experiences in various settings both inside and outside of the centers. The Reggio approach is also utilized in our daily programs. Projects are based on the children's interests and continue as long as the children are engaged in the project. Holistic learning enhances our programming in socio-emotional, physical, spiritual and intellectual development. Our program and policies provide children with opportunities to develop problems solving skills through positive interactions with peers and staff. For more information on our curriculum go to www.education.gov.sk.ca/EELC
During the summer children have the opportunity to participate in summer camps at the center. There are four camps throughout the summer and the camps run four days in duration. In previous years the camp themes were: Sports Week, Outdoor Explorers(science), Imagination Week and Summer Fun! The camps are open to all children who are currently enrolled in the center as well as school age children who attend only for the camps.
